Red Granite books 'Motel' Room in Top Markets

Red Granite Intl. has closed distribution deals in nearly all international markets for the crime thriller “Motel,” starring John Cusack, Robert De Niro and Rebecca Da Costa.

 

The sales banner sold rights to “Motel” — currently in post-production — to Metropolitan in France, Nikkatsu in Japan and Universal in Spain and Scandinavia. It also made deals at the American Film Market for the U.K., Germany and Latin American.

 

“Motel” producers are Peter Graves and Warren Ostergard. Pic is directed by David Grovic and written by Paul Conway, James Russo and Grovic.

 

Story centers on a hitman (Cusack) who must fight his way through a cast of shadowy characters summoned to a backwater motel in the Delta bayou by the crime boss (De Niro) who hired him.

UPI Nabs Internation Territories for 'The Wolf of Wall Street', 'Horns' and 'Motel'

Universal Pictures International has inked a distribution deal with Red Granite to pick up select international territories for The Wolf of Wall Street, the financial thriller starringLeonardo DiCaprio, as well as the adaptation of the Joe Hill horror bookHorns and the crime thriller Motel. 

Paramount has the domestic releasing rights to Wolf but UPI has picked up major territories Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Scandinavia and the U.K.

 

 

The movie is currently shooting in New York and, in addition to DiCaprio, features Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Matthew McConaughey,Kyle Chandler and Jon Favreau.

 

UPI will release Horns in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Scandinavia. The movie, which is also currently in production (in Vancouver), stars Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple.

Motel, meanwhile, is described as a “taut crime thriller” and starsJohn Cusack as a hitman and Robert De Niro as a crime boss. Universal will release Motel in Spain and Scandinavia.

 

Red Granite’s foreign sales arm, Red Granite International, led byDanny Dimbort and Christian Mercuri, is handling international sales of the film and negotiated the deal on behalf of the producers.

Crispin Glover Joins Indie Action Thriller 'Motel'

Crispin Glover and Martin Klebba have joined the cast ofMotel, the indie action thriller being toplined by John Cusack, Robert De Niro andRebecca Da Costa.

 

Red Granite International, the international sales arm of Red Granite Pictures run led byDanny Dimbort andChristian Mercuri, has come aboard handle foreign sales forMotel.

David Grovic is directing the film, now in production. It's based on an original screenplay by James Russo with a rewrite by Grovic and Paul Conway.
